The DOT and PHMSA drug and alcohol testing regulations can be confusing. This is especially true if you're starting a new business or have landed in a new safety position. If you're looking for training resources, this presentation is for you.

At Screensoft, we administer DOT drug and alcohol testing programs for oil and gas companies regulated under the PHMSA. Our FMCSA presentation was so popular, we decided to create one for oil and gas employers. This presentation contains information from Title 49 Transportation CFR Part 40 and 49 CFR Part 199. Part 199 covers the drug and alcohol use and testing for operators, and their contractors, of natural gas and other gas pipeline transportation, hazardous liquids pipeline transportation, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) pipeline facilities.

Here's what to expect:

  • DOT drug and alcohol testing procedures
  • DOT drug and alcohol tests required for operators and contractors of natural gas and other gas pipeline transportation, hazardous liquids pipeline transportation, and LNG pipeline facilities.
  • Visual aids including the steps of a drug and alcohol test
  • Random drug and alcohol testing requirements for covered employees
  • Consequences for drug and alcohol use and violations under the DOT

Use this SlideShare as a supplement to the official code of federal regulations. Review the content for any information that you're not familiar with. Feel free to download the presentation and use it for training your own personnel.

Now, you have an extra resource that should help clear up any confusion you have with the PHMSA drug and alcohol testing requirements. Still, have questions? Leave a comment below and we'll be glad to clarify.
